We are planning to use traditional system for roofing with stone elements where central ceiling area is half open for better ventilation and light. This can be seen in traditional architecture in Tamil Nadu. One very interesting and inexpensive way to get more light in your cottages is to insert plastic bottles filled with water in the tiles. Sunlight is going trough and amplifying light so that bottle serves like bulb.
