Various breeds and their special features
- Gir (Gujarat - high yield of milk - about 20--24L/day. Bulls not known for working, very slow in nature, can adjust in various conditions easily, eg: exported to Brazil)
- Tharparkar (also called as white/grey sindhi - Dual purpose - soft natured breed - can subsist in harsh conditions like deserts of Rajasthan - need less grass and water).
- Dangi - They are from Ahmadnagar and Nasik districts of Maharashtra. This breed has excellent working qualities in heavy rainfall areas, rice fields and on hilly tracts. It’s a Draught breed. Their feet are oily, while working in paddy field doesn’t stuck up in the mud unlike the bulls of other breeds.
