  • Cleanliness of barn very important, no gobar and gomutra to be lying around so that flies and mosquito are not attracted.
  • Can create a smoke by burning wood, sawdust, dry gobar, neem leaves, straw and kept in different parts of goshala to keep flies away.
  • Feeding: proper chart to be made of milking, non milking, pregnant Cows, calfs, working oxen etc and  accordingly quantity to be decided and fed.
  • Pregnant cows to be kept in isolated area - 7th month to end of pregnancy to be overfed for a good health of calf, milk production and good pedigree
  • Calf to be allowed to drink as much milk as needed at least till 14 days, than gradually to be weaned away by substituting with other feed
  • Feed: dry rice straw, dry jowar stalks, corn flour, wheat bran, ground nut oil cakes(10%), Jaggery etc.
  • Ideally to be bathed everyday and non cloudy days if washed  milk yield observed to increase. Cows out in heavy rains decreases milk yield.

Economic value from Goshala

  • We recover about 50%-60% of our expenditure on Goshala, mainly through manufacture and sale of Cow products like bathing soap, tooth powder, distilled cow urine etc.
